Relative Clauses
با استفاده از relative clauses یا جمله واره های موصولی، می توانیم درباره یک شخص، چیز یا مکان اطلاعات بیشتری به خواننده یا شنونده مان بدهیم.
Do you know the man who lives upstairs?
مردی که طبقه بالا زندگی می کند را می شناسی؟
I didn't like the book which she gave me.
کتابی که او بهم داد را دوست نداشتم.
This is the restaurant where we first met.
این همان رستورانی است که ما آنجا همدیگر را برای اولین بار دیدیم.
برای اشخاص
از relative pronoun یا ضمیر موصولی who استفاده می کنیم تا درباره اشخاص اطلاعات بیشتری بدهیم.
Do you know the man who lives upstairs?
مردی که طبقه بالا زندگی می کند را می شناسی؟
در مثال بالا، جمله واره موصولی who lives upstairs (= که طبقه بالا زندگی می کند) اطلاعات بیشتری را راجع به آن مرد به خواننده یا شنونده می دهد.
برای چیزها
از relative pronoun یا ضمیر موصولی which استفاده می کنیم تا درباره چیز ها اطلاعات بیشتری بدهیم.
I didn't like the book which she gave me.
کتابی که او بهم داد را دوست نداشتم.
در این مثال جمله واره موصولی which she gave me (= که او به من داد) اطلاعات بیشتری درباره آن کتاب به ما می دهد.
در انگلیسی محاوره ای روزمره می توانیم از that به جای ضمایر موصولی who و which استفاده کنیم.
Do you know the man who / that lives upstairs?
I didn't like the book which / that she gave me.
برای مکان ها
از relative pronoun یا ضمیر موصولی where استفاده می کنیم تا درباره مکان ها توضیح بیشتر بدهیم.
This is the restaurant where we first met.
این همان رستورانی است که ما آنجا همدیگر را برای اولین بار دیدیم.
در این مثال جمله واره موصولی where we first met (= که آنجا همدیگر را اولین بار دیدیم) توضیح بیشتری درباره آن رستوران به خواننده یا شنونده می دهد.
