Time Connectors
در زبان انگلیسی time connectors یا time sequencers واژه ها و عباراتی هستند که نشان می دهند کِی و یا به چه ترتیبی رخداد ها اتفاق می افتند. به کمک این واژه ها و عبارت ها ارتباط زمانی وقایع را نشان می دهیم.
When
از کلمه when استفاده می کنیم تا نشان دهیم کِی فعلی رخ می دهد.
I traveled to Japan when I was 16.
وقتی شانزده سال داشتم به ژاپن سفر کردم.
همچنین از کلمه when استفاده می کنیم تا نشان دهیم دو فعل هم زمان اتفاق افتاده اند.
She was sleeping when I called her.
وقتی بهش تلفن زدم، خواب بود.
در برخی شرایط هم کلمه when توالی رویداد ها را نشان می دهد - اینکه فعلی بعد از فعل دیگری اتفاق افتاده است.
I'll buy a car when I graduate from college.
وقتی از دانشگاه فارغ التحصیل شوم یک ماشین می خرم.
After & Before
کلمات after و before را برای نشان دادن ترتیب رخ دادن رویداد ها استفاده می کنیم.
I'm going to take a nap after my lunch.
بعد از ناهار می خواهم یک چُرت بزنم.
Please, turn off the lights before you leave.
لطفا قبل از اینکه بروی چراغ ها را خاموش کن.
Then / After That
از کلمه then یا عبارت after that استفاده می کنیم تا نشان دهیم فعلی بعد از اتفاقی که در جمله قبلی ذکر کردیم رخ داده است.
First, we need to chop the onions. Then / After that, we fry them.
اول باید پیاز ها را نگینی خورد کنیم. سپس / بعدش تفت شان می دهیم.
Later
کلمه later را به همراه عبارت های زمانی استفاده می کنیم تا به زمانی بعد از یک لحظه خاص اشاره کنیم.
I arrived at my dentist’s office at 2 p.m. Three hours later, he finally saw me.
ساعت 2 بعد از ظهر رسیدم مطب دندان پزشکم. سه ساعت بعد بالاخره مرا ویزیت کرد.

کلمه next را به همراه عبارت های زمانی استفاده می کنیم تا اتفاق بعدی را در یک توالی از رویداد ها نشان دهیم.
We arrived at the hotel in the evening. The next morning, we went to the beach.
شب رسیدیم هتل. فردا صبحش رفتیم ساحل.
