Parts of Speech
اجزای کلام (Parts of Speech) به دسته‌های مختلف کلمه‌ها در زبان گفته می‌شود، مانند اسم‌ها، صفت‌ها و حرف‌های اضافه. هر یک از این دسته‌ها نقش ویژه‌ای در جمله دارند.
این ها رایج‌ترین اجزای کلام در زبان انگلیسی هستند:
اسم‌ها (Nouns)
اسم‌ها کلماتی هستند که معمولاً افراد، مکان‌ها، اشیاء یا مفاهیم را نشان می‌دهند.
book, teacher, happiness, school, cat
ضمایر (Pronouns)
ضمیر کلمه‌ای است که می‌تواند جهت اجتناب از تکرار، به جای یک اسم بنشیند.
I, she, him, them, you, they
فعل‌ها (Verbs)
فعل کلمه‌ای است که بر وقوع کاری یا حالتی در زمانی معین دلالت می‌کند.
live, go, eat, prefer, be
صفت‌ها (Adjectives)
صفت کلمه‌ای است که یک اسم یا یک ضمیر را توصیف می‌کند.
good, cold, happy, beautiful, expensive
قید‌ها (Adverbs)
قید کلمه‌ای است که یک فعل، یک صفت، یا یک قید دیگر را توصیف می‌کند. قید‌ها همچنین می‌توانند اطلاعاتی درباره زمان و مکان وقوع افعال به ما بدهند.

حروف اضافه (Prepositions)
حرف اضافه کلمه‌ای است که نسبت میان دو کلمه را (از لحاظ مکان، زمان و ...) بیان می‌کند.
